When WellBox first launched in 2020, we knew we wanted to give back to those in need as well as provide gifts for your staff and clients. This began with partnering with local homelessness charities in Manchester to provide 1 meal with each gift box purchased.
This is still the same today. For each WellBox sold, we either donate one meal (or one meal worth of provisions) to someone in need or make a £1 donation to mental health charity, Mind, on your behalf.
WellBox is now able to support a network of charities across the UK but one close to home for the team is Lifeshare. With donations from the gifts you buy, WellBox is proud to support Lifeshare and the life-changing work they do in the community.
Lifeshare is Manchester’s oldest homelessness charity established in 1984. Lifeshare provides services 365 days a year to those in need, homeless and vulnerable across Greater Manchester. Lifeshare is often the first point of contact with people on the streets, offering practical assistance, support and information. Through a network of volunteers, they offer continued assistance that enables people to secure suitable accommodation, support them in maintaining their tenancies, and help them access initiatives that carry their lives forward.
Lifeshare’s broad range of initiatives includes:
Crisis Support
Available to vulnerable young people aged 16-25 who are at risk of exploitation, assisting them in accessing safe, stable accommodation. With a longer-term focus on assisting them in returning to work or education as well as the care of their physical and mental wellbeing.
Respite Breakfast Project
Their respite breakfast project serves hot breakfasts every Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning in Manchester city centre. In addition to providing dry clothing, sleeping bags, wellness packs, and other supplies.
Lifeshare served 3,900 breakfasts last year, with this demand increasing month on month this year.
Christmas
This Christmas Lifeshare aims to bridge the gap in services over the holiday season. It will provide hot meals and Christmas gifts throughout the festive week. Offer access to medical care, fresh dry clothes, barbers and nail technicians to those in need this year. If you are looking to give back Lifeshare has volunteer opportunities available.
Over the last 30 years, Lifeshare has served over 153,000 meals through its Christmas projects.
Lifeshare is currently running a special campaign in which for every hoodie you buy one is donated to a person in need over these colder months. The “Buy a Hoodie, Donate a Hoodie” Campaign which features hoodies designed by local Mancunian artists and musicians. Over 140 hoodies were handed out over the festive period last year and they plan to surpass that this year as demand is higher. You can make a difference by purchasing one here.
